I can’t believe it is May already! Time is flying by and its seems as though we have skipped from winter into spring. This week the highs are in the mid-80s. What happened to spring? We went from cold to hot, just like that. I’m hoping it cools off a bit so we can enjoyed nice weather, but not too hot or cold.
I have been feeling under the weather the past few weeks. I have a cough that is really annoying – a tickle that won’t go away. I’ve never had allergies before, so I don’t know if it is just a cold or if I am now allergic to something. Can you develop allergies along the way?
In any case, let’s get down to business. Here is a recap of April’s budget:
Groceries -> $300 PASS!
This one was helped by the fact we went to Ireland for a week. Still, I think I would have come under this regardless of that.
Gas -> $150 (Still holding steady here) PASS!
Working from home definitely has its benefits as this month was another good month in the gas department. The challenge though will be moving forward. Now that it is warm out, I’ll want to go play golf more often. We shall see how this turns out over the next few months.
Dining Out -> $200 PASS!
We did a good job here, as again, Ireland helped us out.
Rebuild Emergency Fund -> $150 PASS!
Another goal, another goal hit!
Bring in extra money through other sources -> $250 PENDING!
As usual, you will have to wait to see how this one turns out in my next post!
Read 1 book this month FAIL!
I didn’t read anything. I did have a book picked out, I just never got around to it. My typical habit of reading a little before bed was thrown off and I wasn’t able to recover. I did start reading the book now though, so hopefully this corrects itself for May.
Workout 30 times this month FAIL!
Not only did Ireland end the streak, I ended it a few days earlier myself. My body just needed a break and I gave it to myself.
Find a 5K to run in FAIL!
While I didn’t run in a 5K, I did run 5Ks. Instead of taking the time of finding a race and driving there, I just went to out local trail and ran there for a couple of Saturdays. Both times I covered the same distance as a 5K, so even though I wasn’t in a race, I still ran!
For May, I am keeping some of the same goals while adding a couple of new ones. Specifically:
- Groceries -> $300
- Gas -> $150 (Still holding steady here)
- Dining Out -> $200
- Rebuild Emergency Fund -> $150
- Bring in extra money through other sources -> $250
- Read 1 book this month
- Complete a cleanse/detox
Readers, how was your April? Did it go from winter to summer where you live too?
