There are lots of things that we spend money on. Some of it is spent on good things – such as groceries or clothing. But other times we spend our money foolishly – mostly because advertisers trick us to spend. In fact, I’m not even sure that foolishly is the right word for it. Below are four things that people waste money on.
Anything Bacon Related
I don’t know how or why this trend started, but it doesn’t look like it’s coming to a stop anytime soon. Every time I turn around, there is a new type of bacon product that I see and I just have to scratch my head. For example, we have:
- Bacon Gumballs
- Bacon Scented Soap
- Bacon Playing Cards
- Bacon Frosting
- Bacon Shaving Cream
And these things were what I found in a quick 5 minute search. Half of those things I listed make my stomach turn just thinking about them. And I love bacon!
Anything Mustache Related
This trend is the same as the bacon trend above. How the heck did it start? Or maybe I’m just living in a cave because I don’t know these things? In any case, here are a handful of mustache related items you can buy:
- Mustache Wall Clock
- Mustache Bumper Sticker
- Mustache Drinking Straws
- Mustache Ice Tray
- Mustache Push Pins
My only question is why the heck would you buy all of this stuff? I could see maybe one or two as a joke, but some people get so caught up they probably even have mustache bed sheets!
I just started seeing commercials for this one, so some of you might not know what it is. It’s basically a plastic wedge with a handle that you use to tuck in the bed sheet without having to lift up the mattress. I know what you are thinking, you need this because it’s so hard to lift up the mattress 2 inches and push the sheet in. However, I’m sure you could find much better ways to spend $20.
Costume Tooth Jewels
I couldn’t believe this when I saw it on the local news. There is a dentist in my area that bonds jewels to the outside of your teeth so that when you smile, the light we reflect off of your teeth jewels and give you that extra sparkle.
I’m not making that up. Really, I’m not. My concern, more so than the money, is what happens if the jewel comes loose and you, um, swallow it?
These are four ways people waste their money. If they would instead pass up on these gifts and instead save their money, they would be that much closer to reaching their financial goals. I’m not saying you have to cut all needless spending from your budget, but there are definitely things that are 100% waste of money and these four things fit into this group.
Readers, what else do you know of that people waste money on?
